2024 Volvo V60 Cross Country Release Date, Price

2024 Volvo V60 Cross Country, Release Date, PriceThe Volvo V60 demonstrates that this body type is still feasible and available in various configurations, including the basic gasoline V60 and the plug-in Recharge. Only a few direct rivals remain in the United States, notably the Audi A4 Allroad, but that hasn’t prevented the Swedish wagon from putting out all the stops to impress us. And we are pleased, even if the standard T5 engine is not very powerful. Fortunately, the T8 engine in the hybrid more than compensates with 415 horsepower and 494 pound-feet of torque. Both drivers are thrifty and have enough passenger and baggage room. As with any Volvo, the interior is made to the highest standards and has all the technology you could think of.

Redesign

The V60 has gotten some minor updates for the new year. Like the rest of the Volvo lineup, each model now has standard LED headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic warning, auto-dimming side mirrors, and more USB charging points. More precisely, the Momentum’s 18-inch wheels have been upgraded, while the R-Design now has glossy black external elements. The Recharge plug-in hybrid has been renamed, but nothing else has changed.

When you go to construct your V60, you’ll see that some of the older packages have been dropped and their features consolidated into the new choices, while others are now available only with a higher trim level upgrade. The Thor’s Hammer LED headlamps dominate the front fascia more than the restrained grille. It retains the Volvo logo’s signature diagonal bar, though. Turn it around and you’ll see big, L-shaped taillights riding up the sides, while twin tailpipes are integrated into the back bumper. The wagon is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels as standard, while bigger 19-inch wheels are available in a different design for Recharge.

Interior

There may be no such thing as an unpleasant Volvo cabin, and the V60 will not be the first. Regardless of trim level, the inside is roomy and well-appointed, with real leather available on even the entry-level model. Similarly, the entry-level Momentum gets a slew of advanced technology features aimed at increasing comfort, convenience, and safety. When you consider how much you receive, it’s quite a marvel that the Swedish engineers were able to organize it all so efficiently. While accessing everything on a single screen may take some getting used to, you’ll love the absence of clutter once you do. As you move up the scale, more and more amenities and a higher level of luxury are added.

Engine

Each powerplant is unique to the conventional V60 and the plug-in Recharge. The 2.0-liter turbocharged T5 engine in the gas-fed wagon produces 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. These outputs are insufficient for the sporty wagons we’ve grown to like, such as the Audi A4 Allroad or Jaguar XF Sportbrake. Even so, it’s sufficient to carry the V60’s substantial rump about town. A standard eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels alone, with no option for all-wheel drive.

The PHEV, on the other hand, is equipped with a T8 powertrain. The engine is a four-cylinder, twin-charged unit identical to the one found in the standard wagon. However, the inclusion of electrical components boosts output to 415 horsepower and 494 lb-ft. The galvanic improvement transforms the Recharge into a real sports wagon, and the same silky eight-speed automatic shifts the gears. Due to the increased power available, the hybrid V60 comes standard with an all-wheel drivetrain.

Release Date and Price

The new Volvo V60 is priced at $40,950 for the Momentum trim, while the R-Design and Inscription trims start at $46,400. However, you should weigh the advantages of the Recharge plug-in hybrid before making the purchase since the change to electrified performance will cost an additional $67,300. Bear in mind that these are the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices and do not include tax, registration, licensing, or destination charges. Volvo’s price for the latter is $995.
