2024 Volvo XC40 Recharge Hybrid, Colors, Specs – The Volvo XC40 Recharge from 2024 appears to make fewer sacrifices than some of its rivals. Due to the XC40’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gas engine’s maximum output of 248 hp and an electric version’s total production of 400 hp, it remains a competitive competitor in the compact crossover sector even after its introduction in 2018.
For the Volvo XC40 Recharge’s 2024 model year, there is competition. At a comparable price in Europe, the Audi Q3, BMW X1, Jaguar E-Pace, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, and Mercedes-Benz GLA are all equivalent in terms of interior spaciousness and features.
The Cadillac XT4 and the Lexus UX are fantastic options for individuals looking for a more affordable luxury crossover. Following our time with the Volvo XC40 Recharge 2024, we may have found our new favorite subcompact luxury vehicle.

2024 Volvo XC40 Recharge Redesign
The Volvo XC40 for the year 2024 hasn’t altered all that much. Once standard equipment, a motorized liftgate, and front fog lights are no longer available as options. However, the motorized liftgate is no longer included as standard equipment; it is still an option. All R-Design and Inscription versions now come equipped with built-in wireless phone charging.
The XC40 Recharge, Volvo’s all-electric crossover, is available in three different configurations. Due to revised engine software, the vehicle’s maximum driving range has increased from 208 miles to 223 miles. Underneath the 2024 Volvo XC40 Recharge seat is no longer a storage container; instead, a typical 360-degree camera system is installed.

Interior Design
A portrait-style touchscreen, concave inlays on the dashboard, and run vents all work vertically well together. Even passengers in the back won’t feel crowded because of the excellent utilization of space. The 2024 Volvo XC40 Recharge comes standard with automatic temperature control and power-folding door mirrors.
As expected, security measures like blind-spot monitoring are also included in the package. On higher-end models, crystal gear selector knobs are seen. The Mercedes GLB and the Volvo XC40 Recharge are both five-seaters. However, the Volvo is only a three-row vehicle. From our perspective, two adults in the backseat rather than three would make it more comfortable.
Although it isn’t the roomiest subcompact car on the market, this vehicle makes the most of its limited space. These seats aren’t our favorite Volvo chairs, but they’re far more comfortable than those in BMW’s entry-level vehicles.
There is plenty of head and legroom in the front seats, but the rear cargo area is surprisingly spacious for a vehicle of this size. To avoid being too small for your increasing family, Volvo has created the XC40.
Engine Performance
There are 187 hp and 221 lb-feet of torque produced by the T4’s 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder. The T5 has 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. These two engine can perform at their peak with an eight-speed automatic transmission. When pushed to their limits, the T4 and T5’s powertrains create a grating noise. It’s true that there are more refined engines available, particularly from German automakers, but I don’t consider that a deal breaker in our market.
The XC40 Recharge’s electric motors create a combined 402 hp and 486 pound-feet of torque at each of its four corners. It boasts a single-speed transmission that provides a burst of torque when you need it most in a metropolis. However, the recharge is a delight to drive through traffic.
The XC40’s quiet nature is further demonstrated by the absence of turbocharged engine clatter in this EV. For individuals who aren’t yet ready to invest in a completely electric vehicle, the T5 is a decent performer (EV). In terms of efficiency, the T4 is marginally better than the gas-powered T3 model. To put the T5’s fuel economy into perspective, the EPA rates it at 22/30/25 mpg city/highway/combined.
The BMW X1 (27 mpg combined with FWD and 26 mpg combined with AWD) is one of the most fuel-efficient competitors. A 14.2-gallon petrol tank in a T4 can carry you 369 miles between fill-ups, while a 3.55-gallon tank in a T5 can get you 355 miles.

2024 Volvo XC40 Recharge Release Date and Price
The T4-powered 2024 Volvo XC40 Recharge is Volvo’s most affordable gas-powered vehicle, with a starting price of $35,100. The Inscription costs $40,850, while the R-Design is priced at $40,350. When outfitted with the more powerful T5 and all-wheel drive, the Volvo XC40 costs $2,000 more than the base model. The XC40 Recharge Core is priced at $51,700. It costs $55,300 for the Plus trim and $58,150 for the Ultimate model. The Recharge, on the other hand, is eligible for a $7,500 federal tax credit. The Volvo XC40’s sticker price does not include a $1,095 destination charge.
