The basic model’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine produces a solid 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. At the top of the lineup is a 316-hp four-cylinder engine with a supercharger and a turbocharger.
Finally, the Recharge PHEV utilizes a supercharged and turbocharged engine in conjunction with a plug-in hybrid system to provide a robust 400 horsepower. Of course, the necessities are not overlooked-there is enough room throughout the interior, and comfort is prioritized, even if more lavish alternatives are available from prominent European competitors.
Engine
Under the hood of the XC60, three powertrains are available. The T5 mill is available with front or all-wheel drive. The turbocharged four-cylinder engine displaces 2.0 liters of premium gasoline and produces a decent 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, which is put to work by the eight-speed automatic transmission. While the T5 is not as peppy as the majority of the engines found in luxury SUVs, it does a fine job of pushing the midsize Volvo about. It does struggle somewhat when power is suddenly required for motorway passing.
The T6 power plant operates with a bit more zeal. Paired to the same eight-speed automatic, it generates 316 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque for all four wheels through a turbocharger and a supercharger. The smooth gearbox seems much more at ease with the increased power, easily shifting into the appropriate gear for quietly cruising through town or merging into busier interstate traffic. While the XC60 is never too eager in this configuration, it is still a consummate professional.

The 2024 Volvo XC60 starts at $41,700 for the Momentum trim level with a T5 engine and front-wheel drive. The R-Design will cost $47,850 to upgrade, while the Inscription will cost $49,200.Selecting AWD with the standard engine increases your expenditure by $2,300. Prices start at $47,500 for the Momentum, $53,650 for the R-Design, and $55,000 for the top-tier Inscription with the more powerful T6 engine. Prices for PHEV vehicles begin at $53,500 for the new Inscription Expression and go up to $59,650 and $61,00 for the R-Design and Inscription trims, respectively.
