New Volvo XC90 2024 Changes, Engine, Price – The introduction of the Volvo XC90 was a foreshadowing of big things to come. Along with the initial use of Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA), the firm invested in its Drive-E engine line. As of this year, the 2024 Volvo XC90 is the best-selling Volvo car in North America. This is because the car was built on a new platform and has a new name: “2024 Volvo XC90.”
The XC90 is a spacious, stylish crossover that prioritizes safety and comfort above sportiness, offering accommodation for up to seven people in three rows. The T5 is a front-wheel-drive turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 250 horsepower. The T8 is an all-wheel-drive hybrid that makes 400 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque.

Redesign
For the 2017 model year, all Volvo vehicles come standard with full-LED active headlights, a speed-limiting “Care Key,” and two rear USB ports. A Slippery Road Alert and Hazard Light Alert are communicated via car-to-car communication as part of a “Connected Safety” project.
Additionally, beginning in 2024, all Volvo cars will be fitted with a top speed restriction of 112 miles per hour. The XC90’s benefits are enhanced with wireless charging, front park assist, and new wheel designs in a 19-inch size. Finally, Volvo has rebranded all of its hybrid T8 vehicles in the United States as “Recharge.”
Interior
There is sample space for everyone except those in the back, and the emphasis is squarely on comfort. It is available in a six-or seven-seat configuration with three rows. The inside of the XC90 is filled with luxurious leather seats, warm colors, and a simple design based on a portrait-oriented touchscreen that controls most of the car’s internal functions.

The XC90’s base model includes standard four-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and power-adjustable seats, although the R-Design seats in the R-Design grade are a touch snug for those with larger frames.
Engine
The XC90’s Drive-E engine choices include a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with the T5 designation that produces 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The T6’s output increases to 316 horsepower and 295 lb-ft with the installation of a supercharger. The addition of an electric motor to the T6 results in a combined 400 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque at the top of the series, dubbed the Recharge. Regardless of the engine type, an eight-speed automatic transmission directs power to the right axle.
While the twin-charged T6 engine in our test vehicle provides adequate power in all situations, it is not the most refined motor. Although Volvo has refined the XC90’s engine over the years, it may still sound harsh and agricultural at high engine speeds in comparison to BMW’s turbocharged four, six, and eight-cylinder engines, which run buttery smooth all the time.
