New 2024 Volvo S60 T6 Redesign, Engine, Specs – That is not to argue that the midsize luxury car will not be entertaining to drive, but it will not provide the same level of excitement. Its controlled handling and difficult-to-match riding quality, on the other hand, are what make it stand out. Almost nothing can upset this elegant sedan, and you can always choose the all-wheel-drive powertrain for even more stability and confidence.
Choosing the more powerful Volvo S60 T6 hybrid variant (formerly known as the Recharge) will be necessary in this case, and doing so would not be a terrible move given that the standard B5 lacks the type of punch we would expect from a car in this price range. Nonetheless, once you are seated in the exquisite cabin, where soft leather and a slew of comfort features will feel like you are floating on air while the suspension smooths out just about every bump, all other worries will be forgotten.
Redesign
The T5 and T6 models will be replaced with a single mild-hybrid powertrain, designated B5, for the 2024 model year. However, the Volvo S60 T6 will continue to be used for the Recharge hybrid variants. The B5 is available in three model levels, each with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. This year, the standard B5 Momentum receives the R-bumpers, the design grille, and window trim, and the vehicle now seems to be practically identical to the R-Design. This grade loses its front fog lights and its power-operated rear child locks for the 2017 model year.
Wireless device charging is available on the highest two grades this year, but the rearview mirror-mounted compass is no longer available. The Advance Package, known as an option, now incorporates an improved cabin air-filtration system. To limit the use of leather, Volvo has changed the trim of the steering wheel to a leather-free substance, and the leather-trimmed key fob is no longer available. There are some new paint colors available and those that have been retired.
Interior
The inside of a premium car must be a variety of things to live up to expectations, and the Volvo S60 does not fall short in this department. This home was constructed with only the highest quality materials available, and its style is the ideal of Swedish simplicity and beauty. Real wool inlays may be found in even the most affordable versions, although the quality improves as the price of the model rises. There is not nearly as much room as we would have liked, particularly in the back seats, and the trunk is barely usable.
The extensive list of features, on the other hand, is something we can’t find an issue with. Naturally, safety comes first, and the number of available driving aids is astounding, but the infotainment system is extensive and well-designed. The nine-inch touchscreen is not as giant as those offered by other rivals, and it might not be easy to maneuver at first while using it. It is, however, intuitive and needs little effort to use once you have become accustomed to it.
Engine
The base-model Volvo S60 T6 engine is not very strong, but considering the sedan’s size, it provides enough power to make the vehicle seem energetic. The turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 260 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Fortunately, it has the same silky-smooth eight-speed automatic transmission as the rest of the lineup. You’ll need to get the hybrid Recharge model for more than just enough performance.
The hybrid T8 is available in two different configurations. The less powerful model produces 400 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque, and the more powerful Polestar Engineered variant produces a combined 415 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque. This engine offers the S60 with the most incredible power and the best acceleration, making it the perfect option if you need to go anywhere quickly.
Release Date and Price
The Momentum trim level of the Volvo S60 T6 range begins at $39,250, while the R-Design and Inscription trim levels are priced at $42,250. The Recharge models are subject to the type of price increases that we have come to anticipate from hybrid automobiles. The R-Design Expression begins the bidding at $47,650, while the R-Design and Inscription both have a base price of $50,650, which they share with the R-Design. Considering that it comes equipped with the most powerful engine and almost every amenity possible, the Polestar Engineered has the highest price of any Volvo S60, coming in at $64,800. It’s important to note that the Recharge is eligible for a federal tax credit of up to $5,419 and a variety of state-specific incentives.
